Inspired by Anita Sarkeesian’s Video Game Tropes vs Women, I wanted to pitch a Zelda game where Zelda herself was the hero, rescuing a Prince Link.

Clockwork Empire is set 2,000 years after Twilight Princess, and is not a reboot, but simply another iteration in the Zelda franchise. It just so happens that in this case, Zelda is the protagonist. I’m a very big Zelda fan, and worked hard to draw from key elements in the continuity and mythos.

This concept work is meant to show that Zelda as a game protagonist can be both compelling and true to the franchise, while bringing new and dynamic game elements that go farther than being a simple gender swap.

Hope you like it!

I just wanted to make sure all of my Zelda fan followers know about this site. Formerly known as WZMR (World Zelda Music Radio), it plays nothing but Zelda music from across the decades. Because they use fan covers, there is a lot of variety in style. All of the commercials are real and/or fan-made game commercials (some of them adorably cheesy) and there is a display that shows how many people around the world are listening that helps you feel connected to people you’ve never met.

I just watched the G4 top 100 video games list. The Legend of Zelda series had 3 spots in the top 11. I’m so proud of my franchise right now. Watching people compliment Loz always makes me so emotional. I’m filled with so much love and so many feelings for my favorite games.

Thank you for 400 AMAZING comics, and for creating such a great Nintendo community. Brawl in the family is one of the most consistently high-quality fan works on the Internet. All of your fans are keeping you in our thoughts. Keep getting better!
